Welcome to the South Sask Lacrosse League!
Beginning with the 2026 season, the SSLL will implement a single carding structure for all U13, U15, and U17 divisions of the League.
Overview of the Change
Under the new single carding structure, athletes competing in the U13 through U17 divisions will be registered (carded) to one designated team for the season, in accordance with League and governing body regulations. This change standardizes the carding process across these divisions and aligns with the League’s ongoing commitment to competitive integrity, clarity in roster management, and consistent player development pathways.
Rationale
The decision to move to a single carding model was made after consideration of several key factors, including:
•Enhancing competitive balance across divisions
•Improving transparency and consistency in player eligibility
•Reducing administrative complexity for associations, teams, and League officials
•Supporting clear development environments for athletes at the U13-U17 levels
What This Means for Members
•Players will be rostered to one team for the duration of the season, subject to applicable call-up or affiliate rules as defined by the League.
•Teams and Associations will be responsible for finalizing rosters in accordance with the new structure prior to the start of the season.
•Coaches and Officials will benefit from clearer eligibility tracking and roster compliance.
•Parents and Guardians can expect more consistency in team assignments and competition schedules.
Additional details regarding roster limits, deadlines, and any applicable exceptions or special provisions will be distributed to the Association Boards in advance of the 2026 season.
Next Steps
The SSLL will be communicating further guidance and standards to the Associations related to:
•Registration timelines
•Roster submission requirements
•Call-up or affiliate policies (where applicable)
Please direct any questions to your local Association. The SSLL Board is comprised of representatives of each active association in the league and the decision to make the changes was unanimous amongst the Board members.
The South Saskatchewan Lacrosse League understands that this is a change for many as to previous operations of the League, and appreciates the cooperation of all members as we implement this change and continue working together to provide a positive, fair, and development-focused lacrosse experience for our athletes.
